HYDERABAD: BRS Khanapur MLA Ajmera Rekha Naik is all set to join the Congress on Tuesday, a day after being denied a ticket by the ruling BRS party. On Monday, her husband Shyam Naik joined the grand old party. Rekha applied for a Congress ticket from Khanapur and Asifabad Assembly constituencies.

Speaking to media personnel on Tuesday, Rekha claimed that she was sidelined by the BRS as they would forced to give her a ministerial berth if she won for the third straight term. She said that the BRS high command was against the idea of her becoming a minister.

"Johnson Naik has been named as Khanapur candidate by the party and he is not even a real Scheduled Tribe. Posts are being given to the top castes in the party and the Government," she alleged.

Rekha challenged the BRS leadership that that she would now show her strength to the party in Khanapur. She vowed to announce her future course of action to her followers soon.
