Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat epitomises rebuilding of State: KCR

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Sunday expressed his immense joy and pride on building Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat and termed its inauguration through his hands as the greatest privilege of his life. He also gave a clarion call to take the state into the future by following the ideals and aspirations of Dr B R Ambedkar.

Addressing a gathering of Telangana senior administrative and police officers and employees of the state Secretariat on the premises of the new building in Hyderabad, KCR slammed the detractors of the very idea of a new complex in place of the old one.

“Some dwarf, hopeless characters opposed the construction of the new Secretariat. They said sarcastically that Telangana’s rebuilding post bifurcation does not mean demolition of old structures and raising new edifices in their place. These numbskulls are so blinded in their vision that they simply cannot see the all-round development of the state in the last nine years since its creation,” KCR commented.

“In the last nine years, we have revived all the lakes in the state that remained dry while craving for attention in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. This is a proof of the rebuilding of Telangana. And so is Kaleshwaram, the world’s biggest and best lift irrigation scheme. The revival of agriculture and provision of uninterrupted electricity to farmers are the other examples of Telangana’s rebuilding.

“Thanks to Mission Bhageeratha, the Gond tribals of Adilabad are now able to consume the same quality water that is available to the elite of Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. Our successful efforts to bring greenery back to forests that were fast shrinking earlier is also a proof of Telangana’s rebuilding,” KCR said.

He also recalled how Telangana has emerged as the number one state in the country by attracting lakhs of crores of investments and its rapid strides in the IT sector, even surpassing Bangalore as its hub. Hitting out hard at his detractors over his decision to construct the new Telangana Secretariat, KCR also cited the examples of how the creation of 36 new districts and the construction of ultra-modern collectorates in record time also stand as the testimonials of the state’s rebuilding since bifurcation.

While paying his heartfelt tributes on this occasion to all those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana, KCR referred to the recent installation of 125-foot-tall Ambedkar in the close vicinity. He said that their gesture was not only to express their gratitude to the iconic visionary, whose Article 3 in the Indian Constitution had facilitated the creation of Telangana, but also to be constantly reminded about his aspirations and ideals and work toward achieving them.

“The villages and slums that once only showcased murky living conditions are now plush with all modern-day amenities. The Telangana police have emerged as the best by ensuring that there was not a single incident of communal tension in the last nine years and in maintaining women’s safety. On the spiritual front, we have also rebuilt the Yadadri temple atop the Yadagiri hills, which is now a top draw for devotees not just in India but from across the world. All this is part of Telangana’s reconstruction,” he asserted.

While thanking everyone who contributed their bit for making the Dr B R Ambedkar Secretariat a glittering reality, he also announced with pride that the new edifice was a proof of how he transformed Telangana in all sectors.

The Telangana Chief Minister also used the occasion to remind everyone that any state’s progress and development could be gauzed based on only two parameters – per capita income and per capita power utilisation. He disclosed to the audience that Telangana by far had the best per capita income of Rs 3.17 lakhs besides boasting of 2,140 units of per capita power utilisation.
