ECI transfers out CPs of Hyderabad, Warangal, Nizamabad, Khammam, 4 Collectors, 3 Secretaries

HYDERABAD: In a major crackdown, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has transferred the commissioner of police of Hyderabad CV Anand, AV Ranganath CP of Warangal, Khammam CP Vishnu Warrier and V Satyanarayana CP of Nizamabad in the poll-bound Telangana with immediate effect.

The ECI in orders set in motion the transfers of nine District Magistrates, 25 Commissioners of Police, SPs and Addl. SPs, 4 Secretaries, and Special Secretaries across five poll-bound states for laxity in work.

They were asked to immediately hand over the charge to immediate junior officers and directed respective State Governments to send a panel of three officers agaisnt each post  to be posted for these positions by 5 pm on Thursday.

The commission has ordered the transfers of 13 SPs and police commissioners in Telangana. Of the 13 police officers transferred in Telangana, nine were non-cadre police officers.

The Commissioners of Police of Hyderabad, Warangal and Nizamabad have been transferred. After assessing the performance and relevant inputs, four District Election Officers of Rangareddy (Harish) Medchal Malkajgiri (Amoy Kumar), Yadadri Bhuvangiri (Vinay Krishna Reddy) and Nirmal (Varun Reddy) districts also have been transferred.

Sources said there were large-scale complaints regarding blatant misuse of money power during the recent by-election to the Munugode assembly seat in Telangana.

The commission also ordered the removal of the transport Commissioner Srinivas Raju, the director of prohibition and excise Musharraf Ali, and the commissioner of commercial taxes Sridevi in Telangana.

The Telangana Government had been directed to also appoint a separate principal secretary for the Excise and Commercial Tax Department in view of the rigorous work required during the elections. Earlier, the Telangana chief secretary was holding the additional charge of the department.
