NEW DELHI: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha emerged out of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) office in Delhi after nearly nine hours of questioning in connection with the liquor policy case on Saturday. According to some reports, the agency has asked the BRS MLC to appear before it again for further questioning on March 16.
As widely reported throughout the day, the ED team is learnt to have largely focussed on recording Kavitha’s statement and other necessary documentation on Saturday. The statement was recorded as per the provisions of Section 50 of PMLA.
A five-member ED team consisting of a joint director, a woman deputy director and three assistant directors was said to have quizzed the BRS MLC along with Arun Ramachandran Pillai, who is already in the ED’s custody. Kavitha was expected to fly back to Hyderabad on Saturday night itself.
Earlier in the morning, Kavitha arrived at the ED office at around 11 am, accompanied by her husband Anil, her advocate and personal gunmen. However, only the BRS MLC was given the gate pass to proceed inside. The Bharat Jagruti chief looked relaxed and composed even as she stepped inside the main ED office building exactly at 11:08 am. She was also seen raising her fist symbolising her resilience to fight the charges against her.
Before arriving at the ED office, Kavitha was greeted by a large number of Telangana Ministers, legislators and BRS activists outside KCR’s official residence at 12, Tughlak Road. K T Rama Rao, Harish Rao, Srinivas Goud, Sabitha Indra Reddy, Satyavati Rathod and many other ministers, MLAs, MLCs and party leaders have been camping in Delhi since Friday to show their support for their MLC.
