Effort attains fruition, Smita Sabharwal gets a ‘sweet’ gift

HYDERABAD: As the saying goes in Hindi, ‘Sabr ka phal meetha hotha hai’. It roughy translates into English as ‘The fruit of patience is sweet’.
KCR’s Telangana dream is just an example.
Well, this story is away from politics.
Secretary to Chief Minister and popular IAS officer Ms Smita Sabharwal was pleasantly surprised by a farmer with a basket full of mangoes ripen and ready to savour.
And, big deal, eh? Yes, indeed.
The bureaucrat planted a mango sapling at Kollapur village in Mahabubnagar district three years ago. Lo and behold! As luck would have it, it was a rainy day as if to water the plant immediately. It’s nature’s blessing. Smita Sabharwal planted the sapling as part of Harithaharam, a flagship green revolution programme of the Telangana Government.
That would have been a symbolic gesture to motivate and inspire all those around to sow and protect and raise trees.
She wouldn’t have surely expected the sapling to grow and yield a basket full of mangoes in flat three years and that she would literally be subjected to experience the maxim: “As we sow, so shall we reap.”
The grower of the plant Srinivas remembered her effort. Typical of an ebullient officer that she is, Smita took to twitter and chronologically posted four pictures of the lifecycle of the tree — from sowing to reaping.
In fact, it didn’t grow to be qualified to be called a tree. Even saplings prove sometimes to be precocious. Thus, this ‘child prodigy’ among mango trees came to fruition quickly.
What more can anyone ask for? The delicious King of Fruit made it to her house as a “sweet” gift.
