ASIFABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) said that the Congress leaders in the State were making a fool of themselves by saying that they would cancel Dharani portal once they came to power. He claimed that, according to the feedback he received, everyone in Telangana wanted Dharani portal except the Congressmen in Telangana.

Speaking at a public meeting after distributing 'Podu' land pattas to beneficiaries at Asifabad, KCR said, "Congress says that if it comes to power, the party will remove Dharani portal. But the feedback I got from public across the state is different."

He then sought the opinion of the public if they really wanted the portal for which the crowd answered in the affirmative.

"The Congress leaders are making a fool of themselves. Only if Dharani exists, the farmers will benefit from Rythu Bandhu. The family of the farmer will also get Rs 5 lakh in case of his death. If we remove Dharani, every farmer will be forced to go back in time and start borrowing from money lenders," said KCR.

Sharing his experience on visiting Maharashtra recently, KCR said that even in Maharashtra, people had been praising the BRS schemes and that they wanted emulation of the same schemes in their state too.

Speaking about how his government has developed Asifabad, KCR said, "After the BRS Government came to power, about three to four thousand tribal hamlets were transformed into village panchayats. Nobody would have dreamt of this. Previously, Adilabad always made headlines for all the wrong reasons as tribals used to die during monsoons. Now there is development. There is no water scarcity due to Mission Bhagiratha and medical facilities have improved too. Everything has changed for the better in the last three years."
