HYDERABAD: Actor Akkineni Naga Chaitanya criticised the exploitation of celebrities' personal lives for media headlines, calling it "shameful" in response to recent remarks by Minister Konda Surekha about his divorce. Chaitanya categorically denied the claims, labelling them as false, baseless, and ridiculous.
In a public statement, Chaitanya explained that the decision to divorce his former spouse was made mutually, after much thought, and was a peaceful conclusion reached in the interest of both parties’ different life goals. He stressed that the separation was conducted with respect and dignity, reflecting their maturity as individuals.
The actor mentioned that, until now, he had chosen to remain silent out of deep respect for his former spouse and his family. However, he felt compelled to respond to Konda Surekha's recent gossip and comments, which he found entirely unacceptable. He emphasised that women should be supported and respected rather than used as subjects of speculation.
