YELLAREDDY: BRS President and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has said that a State will progress only when the farmer is progressed.

"Despite losses to the State Government, we are not stopping any schemes for the welfare of farmers and other downtrodden sections of the society," KCR said.

In a public meeting at Yellareddy on Wednesday, KCR said that land rates have increased and farmers were becoming millionaires. He added that people from Hyderabad too were returning to their villages to do agriculture as it had become productive.

KCR promised the people of Yellareddy and Kamareddy that they would get Godavari water and said that, "BRS MLA Surender Reddy's win is equal to the KCR's victory. I'm also contesting from Kamareddy. After the BRS comes to power in the next term, Yellareddy and Kamareddy will be made twin cities and people will witness a huge development which they have never seen before. Infrastructure and roads will be developed and people will be proud of their constituencies."

Questioning the Congress leaders, KCR said, "The Congress leaders are asking the farmers to install 10 hp motors instead of 3 hp and 5 hp motors to irrigate their agricultural lands. There are 30 lakh pump sets in Telangana. Who will give money to install 10 hp motors for all the pumpsets in the State?"

KCR explained that per capita income was the main index that showed how a State is developed and said, "After Telangana's formation, we gave preference to implement social welfare schemes in the State. 33 districts were formed and we came up with one medical college in each and every district. In the beginning, we were ranked the 18th State in per capita income in the country and today, we are in the number one position. There is development in agriculture, IT, and many other sectors."

The BRS president said that Congress leaders didn't support the formation of Telangana State and added, "Not even a single Congress leader resigned when we were protesting for separate statehood. All the BRS MLAs resigned after the then Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy said that he won't sanction a single rupee for Telangana."
