Farmers will be in dire straits if Dharani portal disbanded; KCR slams Congress again

JOGULAMBA GADWAL: Hitting out at the opposition Congress over its demand to throw Dharani, the official land records management portal, into Bay of Bengal, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that disbanding it is like throwing the people into dire straits.

Addressing the ‘Pragathi Nivedana Sabha’ public meeting at the Aiza road in Gadwal on Monday, June 12, 2023, after inaugurating the new Integrated District Offices complex he said that the portal had made the life of the farmers easy as it facilitated the easy transfer of financial benefits to their bank accounts.

“I designed Dharani, it is my brainchild that took three years to come into being. Benefits from Rytu Bandhu, Dalit Bandhu, and exgratia in case of death all are reaching your account without any intervention by government authorities. If Dharani goes you will once again be exposed to rampant corruption,” the Chief Minister said.

Recalling the painful past of the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district which was known for drought and crop failures that led to the mass exodus of farm labour to neighbouring states, the Chief Minister said that it all changed after the formation of Telangana. “Today the same district was bifurcated into five new districts and is thriving. There is reverse exodus now, there are five medical colleges and brand new administrative infrastructure,” he said reminding the people about the past.

Announcing several sops to the Jogulamba Gadwal district, the Chief Minister said that all the 255 Gram Panchayats in the districts would receive Rs 10 lakhs each, all the 12 Mandal headquarters would receive Rs 15 lakhs each and Gadwal Municipality would receive Rs 50 crore, and three other municipalities in the district would receive Rs 25 crore as a special grant.

Earlier, K Chandrashekar Rao inaugurated the newly built Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) district headquarters office and affectionately spoke with the party leaders. He then inaugurated the new District Police Superintendent’s office and the newly built Integrated District Offices complex.

Addressing the government staff at the district offices complex, the Chief Minister encouraged them to continue their hard work so that the momentum gained in the past nine years would become a permanent feature. “Telangana has surpassed many big states in the country in development. We are also conceiving and implementing programmes like Kanti Velugu that reduce the risk of a whole generation getting stunted due to debility,” he pointed out.
