Gadida Guddu: Revanth Reddy reiterates five questions that KCR asked BJP for decade

HYDERABAD: Donkeys are mammals and won't lay eggs. ‘Gadida Guddu’ means donkey’s egg and is a metaphor for something non-existent or impossible to happen.

Taking to X Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did nothing for Telangana and gave a list of things that Telangana asked for and all that the BJP gave was a ‘donkey’s egg’.

What was funny in the tweet is that the Chief Minister just repeated the questions that the former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) had been asking the Narendra Modi Government all these years.

Revanth Reddy’s first question was on the national status of Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. KCR demanded National Status for Kaleshwaram as the State Reorganisation Act guaranteed national status to at least one project. Without any Central assistance, KCR’s Government built that project with its own funds. Later KCR urged the Centre to grant national status for PRLI, but the BJP gave donkey’s egg.

Then there was the question about the railway coach factory at Kazipet. It was also a promise given during the bifurcation of the State. The BJP never kept its word.

The Bayyaram steel factory was a true donkey’s egg because the Centre took back its promise. As per the bifurcation Act, Telangana was to be given a steel factory with captive coal mines at Bayyaram. The BJP Government refused to approve the plans as the iron ore was of low quality.

Concerning Telangana’s equitable share of Godavari and Krishna River waters, KCR fought for a decade and ensured that the water that was going to waste to the ocean was saved through a string of lift irrigation projects. So, another donkey’s egg for Telangana, courtesy of the BJP.

Telangana sought national status for Medaram Jatara, considered the largest tribal festival in the world but the BJP gave another Donkey’s egg.

In ten years KCR reiterated these demands and the BJP Government at the centre refused to accept any one of these demands. Telangana’s genuine demands for a Turmeric Board, Tribal University, and its legitimate share in Navodaya Public schools and Medical colleges were also kept aside.
