Gharwapsi: Dasoju Sravan, Swami Goud return to TRS
In a Gharwapsi of sorts, Dr Dasoju Sravan and Swami Goud formally joined the TRS in the presence of KTR on Friday
HYDERABAD: In a major boost to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) before the crucial by-election to the Munugode Assembly constituency, Dr Dasoju Sravan and Swami Goud formally joined the ruling party in Telangana in the presence of its working president Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) here on Friday. Hours before joining the TRS, the two leaders, hailing from the weaker sections, tendered their resignation to their primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Welcoming the two to the party's fold at the BMR Sarda Function Hall at Manneguda on the outskirts of Hyderabad, KTR said that Sravan and Swami Goud were returning to their political parental home. Expressing his joy at their re-entry, he gave a clarion call to all those who took part in the Telangana statehood struggle to come together again for the overall development of the state.
KTR heaped praises on both Sravan and Swami Goud, recalling their services earlier to the TRS. He said that Swami Goud played a significant role in bringing all the TNGOs under a single umbrella to put up a united show during the statehood agitation.
Calling Sravan a 'self-made leader' and a good friend, KTR said that despite their political adversity in recent years, they had maintained cordial relations on a personal level.
Sravan and Swami Goud thanked TRS supremo KCR and KTR for welcoming them into the party with a big heart. Sravan expressed his regrets for leaving the TRS in the past, saying that he was driven by impulse and indecision. "Getting back into the TRS feels like home-coming. KCR shaped up Telangana as a role model for the entire country. He dreams of providing the Telangana model of development to the rest of the country by transforming the TRS into Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). I want to join this noble mission and contribute in my own modest way. I will keep doing so till my last breath," he asserted.
Swami Goud, in his remarks, said that he had joined the BJP under the illusive impression that the national party would fulfill all the promises given to Telangana during the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. "Our efforts and requests to get the BJP focus on these pending aspects proved futile. Vexed with the BJP's continued discrimination against Telangana, I have decided to resign from the party and return to the TRS to work under the able leadership of KCR," he said.
TRS charm offensive paying off in a big way
Those in the know of the TRS latest plans claim that the joining of Dr Sravan and Swami Goud was only a tip of an iceberg. In a Gharwapsi of sorts, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is set to witness a mini-exodus of many of its former leaders returning to its fold. There is high-intense speculation of former MP Jitender Reddy and Enugu Ravinder Reddy also following suit. Their leaving the BJP to return to the TRS is only a mere formality, the sources claim.
While the TRS appears buoyed by the home-coming of its 'prodigal sons', the speculated swift developments are certain to deal a deathly blow to the BJP, especially at a time when the high-stakes campaigning for the Munugode Assembly by-election has hit the peaks.
