Group-II aspirants approach HC seeking postponement of exams, protest at TSPSC office

HYDERABAD: Hundreds of Group-II aspirants approached the Telangana High Court on Thursday and demanded postponement of the examination by atleast three months. They also organised a protest at the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) in Nampally.

The two-day examination is slated to be conducted on August 29 and 30, 2023. Over 5,51,943 applicants are vying for 783 posts. The education department already declared holidays on both days to schools to facilitate the Group-II examinations.

However, the aspirants were demanding the postponement of the examinations by at least by three months seeking more time for preparation due to a change in syllabus. Student unions from Osmania University, National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Prof Kodandaram of the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and Addanki Dayakar of the Congress also took part in the protest.

With a huge number of aspirants blocking the busy Nampally road, police diverted them to an open ground adjacent to the TSPSC where they were allowed to continue their protest. Police also took a few agitating aspirants into custody.

Meanwhile, TSPSC Secretary Anitha Ramachandran, denying the reports that the exams were postponed, said that the Commission received the memorandum from aspirants seeking postponement of the Group-II examination and that they would review the request.
