Harish Rao asks officials to speed up vaccination drive

In view of the increasing Covid cases in the country, the Minister asked the authorities to speed up the distribution of booster doses.

HYDERABAD: Telangana Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao, on Thursday, asked the healthcare officials to take all necessary steps to prevent the spread of seasonal diseases in the wake of the torrential rains.

The Minister held a video conference on Thursday with district medical officers from Dr MCR HRD Institute and conducted a review on seasonal diseases, booster dose, C-section deliveries among other issues.

Harish Rao said that special attention should be paid to flood-affected areas, tribal areas and districts where dengue and Covid cases were reported.

He urged the authorities to spread awareness among the people about seasonal diseases and also asked them to keep all the medical kits available at Government hospitals. He also said that programmes like 'dry day-Friday' would control the menace of mosquitoes and flies.

In view of the increasing Covid cases in the country, the Minister asked the authorities to speed up the distribution of booster doses. He said that special attention should be paid to the highly-populated districts like Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal. He sought the cooperation of MPs and MLAs in speeding up the vaccination drive.

He said that more than 20 lakh vaccination doses were available and directed the District Medical and Health Officers (DMHOs) to ensure the availability of the doses at Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs). He asked Telangana's Director of Public Health Dr G Srinivasa Rao to frequently visit the districts and review the progress.

Speaking about women and child health care, Harish Rao said four Antenatal Care (ANC) checkups should be done for pregnant women. He urged the doctors to focus on reducing unnecessary C-sections and promote normal deliveries, especially at PHCs. He asked DMHOs to conduct reviews on this.

The Minister said that Telangana Diagnostic, which was initiated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, had become a role model for the country. He urged them to ensure that these services were provided to people round the clock.
