Heavy traffic jams on key highways as Dasara holidays end
Post-Dasara rush leads to major traffic jams at toll gates as people return to Hyderabad.
HYDERABAD: As the Dasara holidays come to an end, large numbers of people returning to Hyderabad have caused severe traffic congestion on all major highways leading into the city from both Telugu states. The heavy influx of vehicles resulted in long traffic jams, particularly at toll gates.
On the Rajiv Highway, traffic came to a standstill for nearly 5 kilometers at the Duddeda toll gate in Siddipet district. In response, toll collection was temporarily suspended, allowing vehicles to pass through without paying. Similar conditions were observed on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad highway, where vehicles were moving slowly from Choutuppal to Koyyalagudem due to congestion at the Pantangi toll gate.
Additionally, a technical malfunction at the Guduru toll gate in Bhuvanagiri district on the Warangal-Hyderabad national highway further worsened the traffic situation, causing a significant backlog of vehicles. Motorists faced delays spanning several kilometers.
Police were dispatched to these areas to manage the traffic and clear the jams. Efforts are ongoing to resolve the congestion, though the situation remains challenging for many travelers. Further updates are awaited as the situation develops.
