HYDERABAD: Telangana Minister for Roads and Buildings Vemula Prashanth Reddy on Thursday said that the heavy rains in the State completely damaged 419 houses and partially damaged 7,506 houses across 139 villages.

During the Monsoon session of the Assembly on Thursday, Prashanth Reddy revealed the details of rain damages.

"The State Government has relocated 7,870 families from the suburbs to rehabilitation centres, and 27,000 people have been lodged in relief camps,: he said.

Apart from compensating them in accordance with the law, Minister Prashant Reddy said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar had ordered the implementation of the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme for those whose houses were damaged during the devastating rains.

The Minister added that the Chief Minister appointed seven special officers to properly assist with the rehabilitation programme. A control room was set up at each district headquarters, and all of these procedures were put in place in just two days, he said.
