IMD issues yellow rain alert for Telangana over next four days

Temperatures across the state are expected to drop starting from June 3, 2024, according to Indian Meteorological Department

HYDERABAD: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'yellow' rain alert for the next four days in Telangana.

According to the IMD, moderate to heavy rain is forecasted for Telangana over the next four days. The Southwest Monsoon is expected to hit Telangana within the next three days, having already reached Kerala and Karnataka.

Temperatures across the state are expected to drop starting from June 3, 2024, according to the Hyderabad Meteorological Department.

Heavy rainfall has occurred at a few places in Nalgonda, Narayanpet, and isolated places in B. Kothagudem, Jogulamba Gadwal, Kamareddy, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Medak, and Suryapet Districts of Telangana.

The monsoon has advanced into some more parts of the central Arabian Sea, some more parts of Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, some parts of Telangana, and some more parts of the West Central and Northwest Bay of Bengal on June 3, 2024.

Conditions are favorable for further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of the central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Karnataka, some parts of South Maharashtra, Goa, remaining parts of Rayalaseema, Telangana & Coastal Andhra Pradesh, some parts of South Chhattisgarh and South Odisha, and some more parts of West Central and Northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 4-5 days.

The cyclonic circulation over the west-central & adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal off the south Coastal Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu coasts persists and is now seen up to 3.1 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with heights.

Weather warning for the next four days

June 3 (Yellow): Thunderstorms accompanied by Lightning and Gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) are very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of Telangana.

June 4 (Yellow): Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Nirmal, Nizamabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, and Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal of Telangana.

(YELLOW) Thunderstorms with rain accompanied by Lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komarambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagital, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal districts of Telangana.

June 5 (Yellow): Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar of Telangana.

(YELLOW) Thunderstorms with rain accompanied by Lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Mulugu, Khammam, Nalgonda, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Suryapet, Jangaon, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal districts of Telangana.

June 6 (Yellow): Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, and Jogulamba Gadwal of Telangana.

June 7 (Yellow): Thunderstorms accompanied by Lightning and Gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) are very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of Telangana.
