Jagan Mohan Rao elected as HCA president

HYDERABAD: Arshanapalli Jagan Mohan Rao has been elected as the president of Hyderabad Cricket Association(HCA). Jagan is an entrepreneur and the secretary general of the Handball Association India. He represented the 'United Members of HCA' panel. The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) conducted elections for six posts – president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer, and councillor on Friday.
Jagan Mohan won the post by one vote after securing 63 to his name while Amarnath got 62 votes. More than 170 people exercised their voting rights in the elections on Friday. The polling ended at 3 PM.
The other elected members include Daljit Singh as vice-president (Good Governance panel), Devaraj as secretary (Cricket First panel), Basavaraju as joint secretary (Good Governance panel), CJ Srinivas Rao as treasurer (United Members of HCA panel) and Sunil Agarwal as councilor (Cricket First panel).
Many renowned personalities including former Indian cricket team skipper and ex-president HCA Mohammed Azharuddin, crickets including VVS Laxman, Mithali Raj, Shivlal Yadav among others exercised their voting rights.
Electoral officer VS Sampath had issued a notification on September 30, 2023 announcing elections for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and councillor.
The HCA elections were supposed to be held in September 2022, but following allegations of irregularities and corruption under the present dispensation headed by its president former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin, it was postponed.
On October 6, Azharuddin was disqualified after he was found holding two posts simultaneously in violation of the rules. He was HCA’s president and the president of Deccan Blue Cricket Club.
