Kavitha conspired with Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia for favours in Delhi excise policy: ED

NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has said that an investigation revealed that MLC K Kavitha along with others conspired with the top leaders of AAP including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia to receive favours in the Delhi excise policy formulation and implementation.

In a statement on Monday, the ED mentioned that Kavitha was involved in paying Rs 100 crore to AAP leaders in exchange for these favours. “By the acts of corruption and conspiracy in the formulation and implementation of Delhi excise policy 2021-22, a continuous stream of illegal funds in the form of kickbacks, from the wholesalers was generated for the AAP,” ED said.

K Kavitha and her associates were to recover the proceeds of crime paid in advance to AAP and to further generate profits or proceeds of crime from this entire conspiracy, the statement mentioned.

To date, the ED conducted searches on 245 locations across the country including Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, and other places. In all 15 Persons including Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Vijay Nair from AAP were arrested in the case.

ED also filed one prosecution complaint and five supplementary complaints in the case so far. Out of the proceeds of crime generated, assets worth Rs. 128.79 crore were traced so far and had been attached through provisional attachment orders dated January 24, 2023, and July 3, 2023. Both the attachment orders were confirmed by the adjudicating authority. ED said that further investigation was in progress.

Kavitha was taken into custody by the ED on March 15, 2024, in the case of the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam. The Special PMLA Court, New Delhi remanded her for ED custodial interrogation for seven days till March 23, 2024, as per the order on March 16, 2024.

The ED searched Kavitha’s residence in Hyderabad on March 15. During the search proceedings, the ED officials were obstructed by the relatives and associates of Kavitha, the ED said.
