SURYAPET: Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo K Chandrashekar Rao has blown the electioneering bugle at a massive public meeting here on Sunday.

KCR went on a spree of inaugurations, including an Integrated District Offices Complex, District Police Office, Vegetal Market and a Government Medical College, here.

Announcing sops of Rs 50 crore to Suryapet municipality and Rs 25 crore each to major municipalities in the erstwhile Nalgonda district, the Chief Minister said that the BRS would repeat its victory feat once again and hit a hattrick in Telangana.

Referring to the “retrograde ideas” of the Congress and the BJP, he said that they had ruled for 50 years and did nothing for the country.

The Congress was announcing brazenly that it voted scrap “Dharani” and the various schemes launched by the BRS Government, if voted to power. This would push the State back to the previous dark days. He appealed to the people to elect all the 12 contestants of the BRS from the erstwhile Nalgonda district for renewed welfare and development of the region.

He laid emphasis on how the BRS Government made Nalgonda region fluoride-free through the flagship programme of Mission Bhagiratha and asserted that the Union Government had acknowledged the same on the floor of the Parliament.

He exuded confidence that the BRS would win at least five to six seats more than what it had bagged in 2018 in Telangana.

Referring to the Aasara pension scheme of the BRS Government, he said the Congress was promising Rs.4,000 instead of the current Rs.3,000.

“Has any of the Congress-ruled States been implementing the scheme at all? Do their policies differ from State to State? But we can’t say irresponsibly that we will give Rs.5,000. We will surely consider hiking pensions at an appropriate time,” said KCR.

KCR urged the people of Suryapet to re-elect State Power Minister G Jagdish Reddy if they wanted a continuation of the current pace of development. “Now it is election time, there will be beggars at your doorstep. Few will sing ‘ravoyi chandamama’ song, but I want you and the entire State to debate the points I am going to tell you,”he said.

“Who is in the fray, the same old Congress and the BJP? Are they new? We gave them 50 years to do something. Many became Chief Ministers and many become ministers. Has anyone thought of starting a medical college here? Now look at the erstwhile Nalgonda. We ushered in a sea change. Why the Congress had failed to spur development as we did?,” he asked.

He recalled the days when farmers died by suicides, because of crop failure, lack of power supply and irrigation. “Congress Government’s Apadbandhuvu didn’t save farmers. There was no minimum support price offered, farmers were illtreated in Government offices,” KCR said.

Don’t get confused

Urging people not to get confused when the opposition parties sought votes from them, KCR said that the BRS Government would never discriminate against anyone based on caste or creed.

He cautioned people against voting for the Congress as power holidays were back in Karnataka. “Do you want 24 hours of free power or three hours of power to agriculture?” he asked and the audience replied in the negative emphatically.

The Chief Minister announced several sops for the district that included Rs 10 lakh each for 475 gram panchayats from the Chief Minister’s fund, a Rs 25-crore ‘Kalabharathi’ cultural centre at Suryapet, a new building for women’s Polytechnic college, a new sports school and an R&B guest house.
