HYDERABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary and Telangana in charge, Tarun Chugh, observed that for the first time after the formation of Telangana, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) looked rattled.

“In the run-up to the announcement of 115 names on Monday, lofty statements have been made about major changes of MLAs, as most of them have been facing serious charges of corruption and inaccessibility to the constituency, however only seven changes were made in the final list,” the senior BJP leader said.

People were baffled at the shamelessness of KCR and his party, as just a few days ago while presiding over a meeting of BRS MLAs, KCR warned them that he had information that at least 20 MLAs were taking 30 per cent bribe in ‘Dalit Bandhu’ scheme, Tarun Chugh pointed out.

“When KCR stated that he had evidence of corruption, the list that KCR announced should have at least 20 new candidates. That did not happen, which means that KCR has endorsed the corruption of MLAs,” he added.

The list that KCR announced on Monday was just an attempt to serve rotten curry to the people, which people did not relish. Neither the wine nor the bottle was new, he said.

Alleging that the BRS Government had devised innovative ways of corruption, he said that people were simmering with anger and would teach the party a befitting lesson.

“BRS is not just corrupt, but highly hypocritical. A few days ago, KCR’s daughter and BRS leader K Kavitha staged a dharna in New Delhi demanding 30 per cent reservation for women in assemblies and Parliament. We expect BRS will follow what it preaches,” he said.

However, in the list of 115 MLAs that KCR announced there were just four women, which exposed the hypocrisy of the BRS party. How does Kavitha defend this blatant injustice for the cause of women in her own party, he asked.

On the other hand, the list also showed KCR’s opportunism, he said adding that in the Munugodu elections, he made friends with the CPI and the CPM for both the parties had some clout. “Six months down the line, KCR dumped them. This is the typical KCR way. He uses people for his benefit and dumps them once the job is done,” Tarun Chugh said.

“He has done this during the separate Telangana Movement, students, employees and the unemployed were used for the cause but once Telangana was formed they were betrayed. The people of Telangana are ready with their ballot to throw BRS into the Bay of Bengal,” he commented.

Tarun saw a wave of anti-incumbency sweeping across Telangana and said that people were waiting to defeat BRS and bring in BJP and for a double-engine Government to realise their time-tested aspirations.
