HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government of K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has walked the talk on yet another promise made in the public domain to benefit the land-owning poor of the State. The scheme, announced in the Assembly by Finance Minister T Harish Rao during the presentation of Telangana Budget 2023-24, will benefit those who own a piece of land but cannot afford the costs of building a house. The scheme, the latest addition to an already large basket of welfare initiatives of the BRS Government, will help the people of this class realise their long cherished housing dream.

The State Government unveiling this scheme comes close on the heels of the Chief Minister recently making the announcement that his Government would extend the financial assistance for housing. Addressing a recent meeting in Mahabubnagar, KCR said that the scheme, intended to benefit those with a piece of land but cannot bear the financial burden to construct a house, would be announced within 15 days.

In line with the aspiration of the Chief Minister, Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Monday announced the scheme with a financial assistance of Rs three lakh each to the beneficiaries as part of the State’s budget while allocating funds for its implementation. As part of the initiative, 2,000 beneficiaries would extended the benefit in every Assembly constituency of the State.
