KCR-led BRS govt shaped up Telangana far better than Congress-ruled states: KTR

HYDERABAD: Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Wednesday said that the state, under the able leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, was positioned far better than the Congress-ruled States in irrigation and providing power supply to farmers.

The minister participated in the irrigation day celebrations held as part of the Telangana Decennial Celebrations in Mulugu district. KTR, along with ministers Mohammad Mahmood Ali, Yerraballi Dayakar Rao and Satyavathi Rathod, laid foundation stones for a slew of development works at a cost of Rs 133 crore and inaugurated a model police station in Mulugu district.

Addressing the gathering, KTR said that renowned poet Dasarathi’s immortal line "Naa Telangana Koti Ratanala Veena" had inspired the Chief Minister to achieve statehood by focusing on water, funds and appointments (Neellu, Nidhulu and Niyamakalu) in Telangana after its formation. The irrigation system being implemented in Telangana stands as a role model for the nation and even during scorching summer, several lakes and ponds in the state are filled with adequate water levels.

Without noticing the visible development achieved in Telangana after its formation, the Congress Party, which had utterly failed on all fronts during its regime, is now making baseless allegations against the BRS government, he said. To make these accusations against a government that accorded top priority for the farmers’ welfare is highly deplorable, he added. He urged all the farmers not to fall prey to the false promises of the Congress and stand behind the Chief Minister for the welfare done to the farmers and in the irrigation sector.

Listing out the welfare done for the Mulugu district, the minister said that Mulugu had been upgraded as district headquarters, which was not even a municipality or panchayat before, besides upgrading 3,146 thandas as gram panchayats. He further said that the Chief Minister had sanctioned Rs 133 crore for the holistic development of Mulugu district. A foundation stone was laid for the integrated collectorate building complex at a cost of Rs 65 crore near the degree college and the district police office building to be constructed next to it at a cost of Rs 38.50 crore.

Apart from that, foundation stones were also laid for government office buildings, model bus stand complex to be built at the cost of Rs 10 crore. Sevalal building and digital library to be built at the cost of Rs 30 lakhs in the premises of the Mulugu Gram Panchayat office, the meeting hall of the Information and Civil Relations Department to be built at a cost of Rs 15 lakhs, CC roads built at the cost of Rs.2 crores in the district center and Vaikunta Dammam to be built at a cost of Rs 1 crore, KTR said.

Later, the minister also unveiled two books of irrigation development and felicitated the District Collector S Krishna Aditya and other public representatives for achieving national level ranks for the district.
