KCR outlines national policies of BRS, to reverse anti-people policies if voted to power
KCR said, BRS would reverse all the anti-people policies of the Narendra Modi Government and promised to replicate Telangana’s successful welfare measures
KHAMMAM: Agneepath will go. Privatisation of LIC and Vizag Steel Plant will be stopped. A clear plan for utilising 75,000 tmc feet of water would be implemented. Rythu Bandhu, Dalit Bandhu and free power to farmers will be implemented across India.
“Privatisation is your policy, while nationalisation is our stand. The BJP has been resorting to socialisation of losses and privatisation of profits. Make in India has become joke in India. India has so many natural resources in abundance that it doesn’t have to go with a begging bowl to the World Bank or the USA,” asserted Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Wednesday. He vowed that the BRS or a Government supported by the party would reverse all the anti-people policies of the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre and promised to replicate Telangana’s successful welfare measures in all parts of the country.
Addressing a massive public meeting in Khammam marking the beginning of the BRS peregrination to the national political centerstage, KCR clearly distinguished the differences in the philosophy of the BRS in contrast to that of the current NDA regime. Expressing anguish that India had lost track of its objectives due to bad politics and politicians, especially the Congress and the BJP, the BRS supremo called for a qualitative change, built on the foundations of welfare and sustained development, free from divisive tendencies on the lines of religion and caste aimed at deriving political mileage.
In his typical style, KCR tried to impress upon the audiences about India’s vast wealth of natural resources and tapped on the irony as to why the people were still languishing without the basic needs like drinking water and uninterrupted electricity. He singled out the Narendra Modi government for its neglect of critical areas of development while helping big corporates with NPA waivers to the tune of Rs 11 lakh crore to Rs 14 lakh crores.
KCR, in his forceful speech, called for the nation’s support while promising to replicate Telangana’s popular initiatives like free electricity to farmers, Rythu Bandhu, Dalit Bandhu, Mission Bhageeratha-like scheme to provide safe, potable water besides 35 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies.
"The total installed power capacity in India is 10 lakh MW but the country has not been able to use more than two lakh MW. Many thermal projects are ready to commence power generation. And yet, there are power cuts in all the states expect in Telangana. If BRS is voted to power, India will be made a power-cut free country in two years," claimed KCR.
Elaborating on his plans of Dalit Bandhu for the country, the Telangana Chief Minister said that 25 lakh families would be extended the benefit under the scheme in the country every year if his party was brought to power at the Centre.
The BRS chief also asserted that the privatisation of all public sector units and valuable national assets under the Modi Government would be reversed when the BRS or a dispensation supported by it came to power at the Centre. He also promised the people to abolish the controversial Agneepath recruitment to the Indian armed forces and pledged to continue the old scheme.
Drawing parallels between the BRS policies and the Modi-led NDA’s philosophy, he said: “BJP’s philosophy is socialisation of losses and privatisation of profits. While the Modi government goes by the policy of privatisation, ours is a policy of nationalisation.
“The BJP-led government is planning to privatise valuable public sector entities like the LIC, Visakha Steel and many more. No issues. Once you (Modi government) go home after 2024 (elections) and we come to power at the Centre, we will nationalise them all once again,” said the Telangana Chief Minister amid thunderous applause from the massive crowds.
KCR also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s famous quip that ‘governments have no business to do business’ and said, “But, we say the government has every right to do business and intervene.”
The meeting was also addressed by three Chief Ministers – Pinarayi Vijayan (Kerala), Bhagwant Mann (Punjab) and Arwind Kejriwal (Delhi) besides Uttar Pradesh former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and CPI National Secretary D Raja.
KCR, also announced a slew of gifts to Khammam, in continuation of a tradition he has been following after the inauguration of district collectorates. He announced Rs 10 lakh each to all the 589 gram panchayats, Rs 10 crore each to the municipalities of Khammam district besides sanctioning Munneru bridge and a government engineering college under JNTU. He sanctioned Rs 50 crore to Khammam municipal corporation and Rs.30 lakh each to Wyra, Sathupally and Madhira municipalities.
