KCR polam baata: Farmers pour out woes, vows to fight for water, Rythu Bandhu, loan waiver

Braving sweltering heat KCR embarked on his ‘Polam Baata’ on Sunday to have a first-hand understanding of the severe drought conditions gripping Jangaon, Nalgonda and Suryapet districts of Telangana.

JANGAON: Braving sweltering heat Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao embarked on his ‘Polam Baata’ on Sunday to have a first-hand understanding of the severe drought conditions gripping Jangaon, Nalgonda and Suryapet districts of Telangana.

Recovering from the total hip replacement surgery that he had undergone, KCR took the bus ride from his Erravelli farmhouse in Gajwel along with a few BRS leaders. He reached Dharavat Thanda in the Palakurti Assembly constituency of Jangaon. He met several farmers who waited for me and heard their problems. He assured them that the BRS would stand by them and fight on their behalf.

 KCR was moved by the predicament faced by a farmer Angothu Sathyamma who spent Rs 4 to 5 lakh to sink four borewells in her farm and all failed. “I took a loan and spent on borewells. Now I have no money in hand to perform the marriage of my son,” she told KCR. KCR announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for Sathyamma.

KCR while encouraging farmers to face the situation bravely said that he would help in their fight against the Congress Government for 24-hour power, irrigation, crop loan waiver, and Rytu Bandhu. He then visited the dried farms of Narasimha Nayak, and Sathemma, and spoke to many other farmers whose standing crops dried up due to lack of irrigation.

 

“For ten years we lived happily. We never thought we would see days like this again. We have brought bad times upon us by defeating you in elections. We thought there would be water in canals, but Congress came and brought drought,” Dhansingh of Dharavat Thanda told KCR. Farmers told KCR that all farmers, big and small prospered during KCR’s tenure.

At Tirumalagiri in Suryapet district, former Minister G Jagadish Reddy and Tungaturthi farmer MLA Gyadari Kishore Kumar welcomed KCR. KCR visited damaged crops in Velugupalli village in Tungaturthi mandal and consoled the farmers.
