KCR rules out early elections, claims BJP tried to lure daughter Kavitha

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Tuesday dispelled all the speculation in the recent past by ruling out the chances of going for early elections in Telangana. The TRS supremo made this categorically clear during an extended executive body meeting of the party held at the Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad.

Addressing the partymen at the meeting, KCR stated emphatically that general elections in Telangana would be held as per the original schedule with no scope for any advancement of it. While referring to the recent attempts to poach TRS MLAs KCR also reportedly made a sensational claim that the BJP leaders had even tried to lure his daughter and MLC Kavitha to join their party's fold. "Can there be political atrocities worse than this?", he wondered.

The meeting also focused on the agitational programmes to be organised to protest against the unabated raids by the Enforcement Directorate and other Central agencies. He told the party leaders not to be unnerved by these actions and reportedly exhorted them to retaliate if they were unnecessarily harassed.

In the wake of recent speculated reports that some of the legislators could be denied tickets in the next elections based on performance reports, KCR also asserted that no incumbent MLAs or MPs would be replaced. All the sitting MPs and MLAs would be re-nominated for the electoral contest, he stated.

However, a few MLAs could be asked to fight for Lok Sabha elections while a few MPs could be fielded for the Assembly, according to party sources.

KCR further asked all the MLAs and MPs to work tirelessly to halt the BJP in its stride. He appealed to them to make the most of the remaining 10 months time before elections to reach out to the electorate in their respective constituencies.

The meeting also passed a resolution complimenting the party leaders and workers who worked hard for the victory of Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy in the recently held Munugode Assembly by-election. The modalities and party setup for Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) also reportedly came up for discussion at the meeting.
