HYDERABAD: Union Minister and State BJP president G Kishan Reddy sat on a 24-hour hunger strike at the Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad on Wednesday in solidarity with the unemployed young people of the State.

He said that the BRS Government had neglected the employment sector during the past nine years. He reminded everyone that thousands of young people laid their lives for separate Telangana during the first and final struggle for Telangana.

“The only person alive is Harish Rao who has not found a match stick even now after pouring petrol,” he said. He remembered the fighting spirit of the unemployed youth during the Million March, Sagara haram, Vanta varpu agitation programmes during the Telangana agitation.

“The universities in the State are lackluster under K Chandrashekar Rao’s rule, the hostels are empty. Innocent unemployed youth hoped that all vacant teaching posts in universities will be filled, while the State Government is delaying recruitment under the guise of legal problems,” Kishan Reddy said. He said that over 35 lakh young men and women took coaching to attend the service commission exams which were cancelled because of various paper leakage scams.

He questioned the Government about the Rs 3,016 unemployment dole and the permanency of contractual jobs. “I hold KCR responsible for the death of home guard Ravinder,” Kishan Reddy said alleging that home guards were not paid salary for two months.

Kishan Reddy said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was on a mission mode to give 10 lakh jobs, personally handed over appointment letters to the unemployed. Tarun Chug, BJP Telangana in charge also participated in the hunger strike meeting at Dharna Chowki and expressed his support for the protest.
