Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy rejoins Congress; wants to compete in Gajwel, Munugode

Rajagopal Reddy had reportedly shared his intention to run against KCR in Gajwel, in addition to his previous constituency of Munugode, which he won as a Congress candidate in the 2018 elections.

HYDERABAD: Former Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy rejoined the Congress on Friday in the presence of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Manik Rao Thackeray, the in-charge of Telangana Congress affairs.

When questioned about why he quit the BJP, Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy said that his sole aim was to defeat the corrupt Government of K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).

"BJP failed to emerge as an alternative to BRS and it failed to act against Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao's corrupt Government," Komatireddy said.

Earlier, talking about his decision to quit the BJP on X, Reddy said, "My decision is for people. Hoping that my decision to join Congress will be blessed by all my workers and fans."

Rajagopal Reddy had reportedly shared his intention to the party high command to run against KCR in Gajwel, in addition to his previous constituency of Munugode, which he won as a Congress candidate in the 2018 elections.

In August 2022, he resigned from Congress and as a legislator, resulting in a by-election in the Munugode Assembly constituency. In the same month, Reddy became a part of the BJP, participated in a by-election, and was defeated by BRS candidate Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy.
