Komatireddy Venkat Reddy tacitly admits skipping of voting on Women’s Reservations Bill in Lok Sabha

HYDERABAD: Bhongir Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy officially admitted to having skipped voting in Lok Sabha on the crucial Women’s Reservation Bill.

In a press release issued here on Sunday evening, Komatireddy, without stating that he and his colleagues Revanth Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy too abstained from voting unwittingly though, confessed while alleging that 66 BJP MPs too did not vote on the important Bill.

He lashed out at Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy for making allegations against Telangana Congress MPs regarding their absence.

He claimed that their absence was because they were stuck in traffic and fumed at Kishan Reddy and asked him to refrain from indulging in petty politics. The MP said that the minister, who had not resigned during Telangana movement, had no moral right to speak about the Congress party.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stated that it was the Congress party, led by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, which first brought the women's reservation bill. He recalled that Sonia Gandhi had stated that the Bill belonged to the Congress party.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy alleged that the BJP had conducted the special Parliament session and introduced the women's reservation bill solely for political gains and electoral advantage in the upcoming elections. He reiterated that it was the Congress party that demanded the immediate implementation of the women's reservation.

However, in a bid to corner Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy, the senior Congress leader walked into the trap.
