KRMB orders release of 8.695 TMC of Nagarjuna Sagar water for Telangana, 5.5 TMC for AP

HYDERABAD: The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) which manages the common projects of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh issued orders on Thursday releasing 14.195 TMC available in Nagarjuna Sagar to both States to mitigate the drinking water problem.
The Board decided to utilise water up to the level of 500 feet in the Nagarjuna Sagar project considering the severe heatwave conditions in the sibling States. Availability of water at 500 feet level would be around 14.195 TMC.
Out of this 5.5 TMC water would be released to quench the thirst of AP. The remaining 8.695 TMC of water would be released for the drinking water needs of Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana.
