HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K T Rama Rao alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was planning to make Hyderabad a Union Territory after June 2, the 10th anniversary of the formation of Telangana State.

He made this claim during a roadshow in Amberpet on Tuesday night alongside BRS Secunderabad candidate T Padma Rao Goud, MLA Kaleru Venkatesh, and other senior BRS leaders.

Despite heavy rains, thousands of people attended the roadshow, demonstrating strong support for the BRS. KTR, undeterred by the weather, addressed the crowd and took aim at both the BJP and Congress parties.

KTR stated that the BJP's interest in making Hyderabad a Union Territory stemmed from its inability to secure seats in the city. "They couldn’t win any seats in Hyderabad, so they're now looking to make it a Union Territory like Delhi. We need BRS in Parliament to prevent it," he remarked.

He also criticised the Congress party, dubbing it the "Kirikiri" party, and accused the BJP of pursuing its own agenda, calling it the "KurKure" party. KTR warned against voting for the BJP, suggesting that if they won again, the prices of petrol and diesel would skyrocket to Rs 400, and gas cylinders could cost Rs 5,000.

KTR also took a swipe at Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, questioning his contributions to the Amberpet constituency. "Did Kishan Reddy bring one rupee to Amberpet in five years? Did he build a temple or a school? Why should people vote for him?" he asked.

He went on to highlight the BRS's achievements, emphasising that the party had defeated the BJP in 2014 and 2018 and the "Tees Mar Khans of BJP" in 2023 as well. KTR also addressed accusations of an alliance between the BRS and BJP, refuting them by pointing to the imprisonment of his sister and KCR's daughter, Kavitha, who has been in jail for 50 days. "If we had a friendship with BJP, would my sister be in jail?" he questioned.

KTR criticised Congress's misleading propaganda and Revanth Reddy's use of derogatory language against political opponents. He also slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for false claims, asking whether the promised Rs 2,500 per month for women in Telangana had actually materialised.

He urged the people of Telangana to support the BRS in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, promising that KCR would return to power in the state within six months if the BRS received 10-12 seats. He expressed confidence in winning the Secunderabad and Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seats and appealed to voters in Amberpet to give Padma Rao Goud a majority of 50,000 votes.
