SIRCILLA: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has showered praise on Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president stating that it was Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao who should be credited for changing the fortunes of handloom weavers here.
Addressing a public meeting as part of Praja Ashirwada Sabha ahead of the elections in the State, KCR said, "I have visited Sircilla atleast 170 times. What I saw today from helicopter when coming here was that water from Upper Manair was flowing in full flow. But there was no water previously. We struggled a lot even when I was an MLA and MP here. You're lucky that KT Rama Rao (KTR) is your MLA. Am happy that now farmers are reaping benefits. I thank Rama Rao for this."
Praising KTR for his initiative to help handloom workers, KCR said, "Handloom workers need to survive and the Government should take up that responsibility. As an effort to help handloom workers here, we spent Rs 300 crore to employ weavers so that the State Government can provide free clothes for festivals like Bathukamma, Ramzan and Christmas. But there are some miscreants who are taking those sarees and burning it. They later question us for giving poor quality sarees. Who is asking you to wear it? Those sarees are being manufactured not just to wear but also to wipe off the tears of weavers. It was your MLA KTR who proposed this scheme and the Cabinet approved it."
KCR added that he wished to see Sircilla turn into Sholapur of Maharashtra which is known for its textile industry.
Stating that Telangana is the only State to provide 24-hours power, KCR said, "Even in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home State, there is no 24-hour power. It is there only in Telangana. Hindus and Muslims are living peacefully here. This is Ganja-Jamuna Tehzeeb. Don't believe the false promises of leaders who promise the moon."
KTR explains Sircilla's development
KTR said that there is Sircilla constituency has seen unprecidented welfare and development due to KCR's Governance.
"Sircilla has become a district today. People need not travel all the way for 90 kilometers up to Karimnagar. Collector, SP and district officers are right here in Sircilla. It is KCR who medical, engineering and polytechnic college here. Even KG to PG classes was started from here," KTR said.
"Godavari waters are brought here through Kaleswaram project. It first fills Mallannasagar and is diverted to our villages through Kudavelli Vagu. Groundwater has risen by six and a half meters in the district. This is the same soil in which tears were shed but now there is plenty of water for drinking as well as for cultivation," he added.
