KTR criticises Congress government over unpaid rent for Gurukul schools
KTR questions Congress government on unpaid rent for Gurukul Schools as landlords lock premises across the state.
HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao expressed strong criticism towards the Congress-led government on Tuesday regarding the ongoing issue of unpaid rent for Gurukul Schools across the state. Many of these schools, operating in rented buildings, have been locked by landlords due to non-payment of dues.
KTR took to 'X' (formerly Twitter) to question the government's priorities, pointing out that while funds were available for contracts and payments to large contractors, there seemed to be none for the rent of schools serving underprivileged students. He sarcastically remarked, "There are funds to send money to Delhi and pay big contractors, but not a paisa for Gurukul Schools?"
This situation arose as several landlords locked the premises of Minority Residential Schools and hostels in protest of nine months of unpaid rent. Following the Dussehra holidays, students and teachers returned to find the buildings locked in places like Tungaturthi, Bellampalli, Tandur, Warangal, Bhupalpally, Huzurnagar, and Bhongir.
The Telangana Gurukul Educational Institutions' Private Building Owners Association has demanded immediate clearance of the outstanding dues, warning of continued closures otherwise.
