KTR explores deals with med-tech, agriculture companies to boost Telangana's economy
KTR said he anticipated "remarkable collaborations and a boost to our economy going forward."
CHICAGO: Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) had a productive day in Chicago on Saturday, where he met with leadership teams of various global companies, academicians, and government officials.
AliveCor
KTR met the leadership team of AliveCor, a frontrunner in medical devices and AI. He discussed the company's ECG tech for remote heart monitoring and abnormal rhythm detection, which he called "revolutionary". AliveCor was enthusiastic about potential partnerships to boost Med-Tech in Telangana, and KTR said he anticipated "remarkable collaborations and a boost to our economy going forward."
Carelon
KTR also met with Rajat Puri, President and Chief Operating Officer of Carelon, an Atlanta-based health-tech company. Carelon has a large presence in Hyderabad, where it has added more than 8,000 highly paid jobs in the last 3.5 years. KTR highlighted the State Government's efforts to expand industrial and IT growth across all the cities and towns of Telangana, and he requested Carelon to consider expanding in the tier two locations to provide opportunities to the youth in cities other than Hyderabad.

The Telangana delegation also met Vikram Luthar, Chief Financial Officer of ADM, one of the largest agricultural processing companies in the world. ADM elicited interest in exploring possibilities of significantly increasing their footprint in India and Telangana, and the State government offered comprehensive support to facilitate their business activities.
Meeting with First Asst. Deputy Governor of Illinois State
The Telangana delegation also met Christy George, First Asst. Deputy Governor of Illinois State, and Kristin Richards, Commerce Secretary, along with representatives of World Business Chicago. They discussed opportunities for collaboration in areas like clean tech, sustainable mobility, life sciences, aviation, and agri sectors.
Meeting with Prof. Madhav Ranjan, Dean of Chicago Booth School
KTR met Prof. Madhav Ranjan, Dean of Chicago Booth School, a top-ranked business school in the world. They exchanged views on the key role of academic collaboration in further strengthening Indo-US strategic partnership. KTR highlighted how the ‘Telangana Model’ of socio-economic development through its 3'i' mantra of innovation, infrastructure, and inclusiveness had ushered unprecedented growth and made Telangana the richest State in India in terms of per capita income. He invited Booth School to explore the possibility of having more exchange programs, conducting state-specific research, and establishing potential partnerships similar to ISB in Hyderabad.
Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, E Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, Special Secretary, Investment Promotion & NRI Affairs, Amarnath Reddy Atmakuri, Chief Relations Officer, and Konatham Dileep, Director of Digital Media were part of the delegation.
