HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao expressed shock over the deaths of two people in Sangareddy district due to contaminated drinking water. He criticised the Congress government, calling it ineffective in addressing the issue.

KTR highlighted that previous BRS government, under the then Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, had completed the Mission Bhagiratha project to provide clean drinking water across the state. He alleged that the current government led by Revanth Reddy was failing to maintain the project, which ensures purified water from the Krishna and Godavari rivers.

For the past few days, residents of the BC Colony in Sanjeevanrao Pet had not been receiving water through the Mission Bhagiratha project. With no access to clean water, the residents consumed available local water, which was contaminated. Several people fell ill, and two of them died while undergoing treatment. Around 50 others are currently receiving treatment, with three reported to be in critical condition. Two of the critically ill patients have been moved to the Narayankhed Government Hospital, while one has been transferred to Sangareddy Hospital for further care.
