HYDERABAD: Telangana Minister for IT and Industries KT Rama Rao (KTR) came down heavily on the Congress for hoodwinking the people of Telangana with six guarantees after knowing fully well that the party cannot come to power.

KTR on Sunday laid foundation stones and inaugurated a slew of development works taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 313 crore in Mancherial district. Addressing a public gathering at Ramakrishnapur in Chennur Assembly constituency, KTR appealed to the people not to fall in the trap of the Congress which was making impossible promises to lure voters ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

The IT and Industries Minister said that the Congress meant migration and crisis, while the BRS meant irrigation and welfare. "People of Telangana should think wisely and support the BRS which is giving Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bharosa and free power supply for farmers, unlike the Congress which had failed miserably in implementing the unique schemes of the BRS during its six-and-a-half decade rule," KTR said.

Highlighting the initiatives taken by the BRS Government in the agriculture sector, he said that Telangana surpassed Punjab and Harayana in paddy cultivation due to the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR). Apart from paddy cultivation, the Chief Minister also laid emphasis on and encouraged alternative crops to paddy in Telangana to benefit the farmers, especially with commercial crops, he said.

KTR said that the State Government was committed to encouraging oil palm cultivation and set a target to cultivate it on over 20 lakh acres in Telangana. Nearly 70 per cent of palm oil in India was being imported from Malaysia and Indonesia via sea route. The BRS Government came up with an initiative to cultivate oil palm in Telangana and supply them across India. As part of its plan, a foundation stone was laid for establishing a palm oil factory by Matrix Company in Mandamarri to benefit the oil palm farmers of Mancherial and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts, he added.

Later, KTR also handed over the house documents to the employees of Singareni Collieries Company. MLA Balka Suman and other people's representatives were also present.
