HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao criticised the Congress government in Telangana for its inadequate response to the attempted assault on a tribal woman in Jainoor, Kumram Bheem Asifabad district.
In a tweet, he expressed concern over the violent aftermath in which several properties were destroyed.
KTR called it "unfortunate" that the state government offered only Rs 1 lakh in compensation to the victim. He accused the government of failing to prevent the violence despite prior intelligence about rising tensions in the area.
He urged the government to immediately restore peace in Jainoor, provide better medical care to the victim, and ensure that the accused receives strict punishment. He also appealed for support to those who lost homes and businesses in the unrest.
KTR further pointed out that the state's law and order issues have been recurring due to the absence of a full-time Home Minister for the past nine months.
