KTR to showcase Telangana success stories at World Water Resources Congress in US

HYDERABAD: Kaleshwaram, the world’s largest multi-stage lift irrigation project, and the Mission Bhagiratha, the safe drinking water project to every doorstep in Telangana, will be showcased by IT, Industries and Commerce Minister K T Rama Rao at the World Environmental and Water Resources Congress at Henderson in Nevada, USA, to be held between May 21 and 25, 2023.

The event is organized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the oldest national engineering society in the United States. KTR will be delivering the inaugural address at the prestigious Congress this year, which will be his second at the World Congress. He addressed the Water Resources Congress in 2017 when it was held in Sacramento, California.

Following his speech on the initiatives taken by the Telangana government in the fields of irrigation and drinking water at that time, the ASCE representatives visited the state and termed Kaleshwaram a “Game Changer” project. The ASCE then urged the young minister to return to the Water Resources Congress and explain the fruits of these two flagship projects to the entire world.

Through a presentation, the minister will be showcasing the success story of Telangana in beating drought through lift irrigation projects to civil engineers from all over North America at the Congress. He will also explain in detail the Mission Bhagiratha and how Telangana successfully supplied safe drinking water to every household in the state.

Leaving for the US for a fortnight-long visit, KTR has said that he felt honoured to represent Telangana which, he said, had gained worldwide recognition for implementing difficult projects in a short time under the leadership of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). “His foresight and deep knowledge of subjects is the reason behind the present-day green and prosperous Telangana which has suffered a lot due to decades of neglect,” he said.

KTR will also be meeting several industrialists and entrepreneurs in different cities of the US beckoning investments for the state.
