HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and former Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR), in an open letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday, demanded implementation of the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) free of cost, as promised by the Congress in the elections.

“The Government, as per its election promise, must immediately declare guidelines for the LRS without slapping charges on the landowners. You, as the Chief Minister of the Telangana Government, must keep the larger interest of 25.44 lakh applicants and issue free LRS guidelines,” KTR said.

The BRS working president reminded the Chief Minister of the promise he had made about the LRS during the elections and said that the CM’s Cabinet colleagues Bhatti Vikramarka, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Seethakka and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy too made similar promises.

“While talking about LRS, you even joked that one day one might even bring a marriage regularisation scheme. But today, your promise turned into a huge burden on the people,” KTR pointed out.

KTR recalled that Bhatti Vikramarka compared the LRS to robbery, but after coming to power, he changed his tack. “Bhatti Vikramarka should explain why his Government is charging fees from the people to regularise their land? Why should they pay you a share in it?” he asked.

He said that Uttam Kumar Reddy even gave slogans like ‘no LRS no BRS’ and promised the people that the Congress Government would implement the scheme without charging a single rupee.

Seethakka went a step ahead and said that the BRS Government was sucking people’s blood, KTR said adding that Komatireddy even moved court against the LRS. KTR suggested to the Chief Minister to consult his Cabinet colleagues first before implementing the scheme. “How can your Government become pro-people, if you are charging Rs 20,000 crore from them in the name of LRS?” KTR asked.

Demanding an apology to the people from the Chief Minister, KTR said that people understood the doublespeak of the Congress Government which was delaying the implementation of several promises it had made in the name of conditions. KTR said that the BRS, on its part as an opposition party, tried to give voice to the people by organising protests at district collectorates and RDO offices.

‘Kadana Bheri’ public meeting in Karimnagar on March 12

Addressing a cadre meeting in Veernapalli of Rajanna Sircilla district, KTR called upon them to work hard for the victory of party Lok Sabha candidate Vinod Kumar. He said that people realised that they made a big mistake by electing the Congress.

“It was KCR who made Veernapalli a mandal. Now people are saying if KCR was there, he would have made Kaleshwaram work and would have brought water. But the Congress made 420 promises and when we ask the CM, he says that he just took over and needs time to fulfill promises,” he said.

KTR demanded Rs 500 bonus for paddy before the election code was implemented. Criticising BJP Karimnagar MP candidate Bandi Sanjay for playing politics of religion, he called upon voters to elect Vinod Kumar with a huge majority. He urged the cadre to attend the ‘Kadana Bheri’ public meeting in Karimanagar on March 12, 2024.
