Man arrested for threatening to behead Modi, Shah through Facebook post

HYDERABAD: The police arrested Abdul Majid Attar from Old City on Thursday for threatening to behead Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Majid in his Facebook post reportedly recalled Nupur Sharma's remarks and demanded that RSS and BJP apologise for the same or else be prepared to be beheaded. Massive protests will take place, if they did not apologise. Majid Attar had been taken into custody and the police are monitoring the posts on social media. The public is advised to refrain from publishing or disseminating materials on social media that can cause conflict among communities.

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's national executive meeting in Hyderabad there is rising tension between the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).

Meanwhile, the police have imposed restrictions around the area where the BJP national executive meeting will take place on July 2, Section 144 is being implemented in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda Commissionerates. Flying drones are restricted in the vicinity of Novotel, Parade Ground, and Raj Bhavan.
