HYDERABAD: Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, an AIMIM MLA, wrote to Telangana Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday, seeking the suspension of BJP legislator Raja Singh from the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

In his letter, Pasha claimed that Raja Singh, a BJP lawmaker, had devalued the Legislative Assembly through his actions both within and outside the House. He continued by saying that his actions had violated the rights of the Assembly, garnering collective contempt.

Quadri further claimed that Raja Singh's remarks on Monday demeaning the Prophet Mohammed and Islam had deeply harmed Muslims' sentiments all over the nation. His duty to uphold the laws of the Legislative Assembly has been flagrantly broken. He alleged that it was a blatant violation of his oath as a member of the Legislative Assembly.

In his letter, he emphasised that an oath binds a member to bear genuine faith and allegiance to the constitution and that secularism and fraternity are part of the core structure of the Indian Constitution. According to him, Raja Singh has repeatedly incited violence and propagated enmity, hatred, and ill-will toward Muslims. As a result, he breached his promise to uphold India's integrity. This statement is the most recent proof that he is unfit to serve in the House, he claimed.

The AIMIM legislator went on to say that the Legislative Assembly has inherent powers under Article 194 of the constitution to punish anyone who violates a privilege or is in contempt of the House. Among these abilities is the authority to expel a member of the House. Pasha requested the Speaker to suspend Raja Singh from the Telangana Assembly.
