MLA-in-waiting DK Aruna submits judgement copy to Assembly, stakes claim to be sworn in

HYDERABAD: BJP leader DK Aruna approached the Telangana Assembly on Friday to submit the judgement copy of the High Court to the Legislative Secretary.

The High Court had recently disqualified Gadwal BRS MLA Krishna Mohan Reddy and declared Aruna elected. Aruna had challenged the election of Krishna Mohan in the High Court, alleging that he had submitted a false election affidavit before the 2018 Assembly elections. The High Court found merit in Aruna's petition and disqualified Krishna Mohan. It also declared Aruna elected as the MLA of Gadwal.

On Friday, Aruna entered the Assembly on Friday and was accompanied by BJP MLA M Raghunandan Rao and former MLC N Ramchander Rao. Aruna had contested as a Congress candidate in 2018 elections and later shifted to the BJP.
