MLC Kavitha lends support to women wrestlers, demands action over sexual harassment

She demanded that the government take action in the national interest and in the dignity of our athletes

HYDERABAD: MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha joined the women wrestlers in demanding that WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Singh be arrested for the alleged sexual harassment.

She said that women wrestlers brought pride to the country with their achievements around the world, and that the Union government's silence was not the ideal  reaction to the emerging issue. She demanded that the government take action in the national interest and in the dignity of the athletes.

She tweeted, ‘It is the hard work, dedication and patriotism of our women #Wrestlers that showed this talent of India to the world. The Government of India must think in the interest of the country in these 5 days. Even after a serious charge like POCSO, the accused is out in public, justice in no way can be denied to the victim, and the ongoing brutality with these gold medal awarded women players is absolutely reprehensible. The Government must know that the entire country wants an answer and the world is watching."

Kavitha Kalvakuntala demands ACT NOW

Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), made a plea for punishment for those involved in alleged sexual harassment of the women wrestlers. She said that the entire country wanted an answer while the world was watching the developments.
