MLC nomination: Dasoju Sravan alleges violation of RTI Act by Telangana Chief Secretary
Sravan Dasoju has appealed to the Telangana Chief Secretary to verify the records, provide information strictly in accordance with the law
HYDERABAD: Senior BRS leader Daosju Sravan alleged a blatant violation of the Right to Information (RTI) act by the Chief Secretary's office on Thursday, in connection with the MLC nomination under the governor's quota.
Sravan Dasoju, in accordance with Section 6(1) of the RTI Act, submitted requests to the office of the Chief Secretary of the Government of Telangana on December 14, 2023, at 3:15 PM, seeking information pertaining to the MLC nomination under the governor quota. Another application was subsequently submitted by him on December 19, 2023, at 3:12 PM.
After a 30-day period without receiving responses to the above mentioned applications, two distinct first appeals were filed under Section 19(1) of the RTI Act on January 18, 2024, and January 20, 2024, respectively. All these applications and first appeals were submitted to the Inward of General Administration, Secretariat, and each received stamped acknowledgments.
The BRS leader highlighted that a letter dated January 24, 2024, with U.O. Note No 779/PAGB/RTI (CS)/2024-1, issued by the General Administration (PAGB) Department, falsely asserted that Sravan Dasoju's applications and appeals were received on January 24, 2024. He alleged that this misrepresentation of facts is unacceptable, emphasizing the importance of addressing such misleading information.
Sravan Dasoju expressed disappointment, highlighting the disheartening fact that the bureaucracy, meant to uphold the Indian constitution, is involved in blatant falsehoods and the violation of constitutional rights. He finds it unacceptable that individuals in positions of apex authority resort to such illegal practices.
Sravan Dasoju has appealed to the Telangana Chief Secretary to verify the records, provide information strictly in accordance with the law, and take appropriate action against the Public Information Officer (PIO) and the first appellate authority responsible for the misrepresentation of facts.
