MAHABUBNAGAR: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) continued his onslaught against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, wondering why the latter went back on his promise to develop Palamuru (Mahabubnagar).

After inaugurating the newly-constructed Integrated District Office Complex (IDOC) in Mahabubnagar, KCR said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was elected at the same time Telangana was formed, said that he would develop Palamuru (Mahabubnagar). Where is he now? Why didn't he come and develop it? Modi ne bola hum banayenge. Kaha gaya? Kyu nahi aaya? In the eight years, the drought-prone region has turned into a lush green area. The lives of farmers, handloom workers, women and people of every community in the district have improved."

KCR slammed Modi, alleging that the Prime Minister was least interested in the development of the country and the BJP-led NDA at the Centre was only focussed on toppling democratically-elected state governments. "The Modi-led Centre (NDA government) is not interested in the development of the country. They only know how to destroy (state) governments and come to power. His own State Gujarat has no electricity or even drinking water. But he questions the development in Telangana. He turns a blind-eye towards development and is only focused on gaining power, which is beneficial only to him."

Commenting on the MLAs' poaching case, the Chief Minister said that the 'thieves' were caught red-handed and sent to jail. KCR said that the Prime Minister himself said that he would destroy the State Government here. He wondered if poaching was what the Prime Minister meant.

"Palamuru is where I was serving as an MP during the Telangana movement. I have a special liking for this place because it supported me during the toughest days. That is why we have worked day and night to develop this place. Even though the Centre is not supporting our State, neither financially nor in any other way, we have taken up many projects. I have written over 150 letters to the Prime Minister for Telangana's share of Krishna river water. But there was no support. We will still do it. I will make sure that Palamuru is developed on par with any other place," KCR said.

KCR also promised to construct a sports stadium, auditorium, battery factory besides developing the handloom sector, farmers, sheep-rearers besides the other sectors in every constituency of Palamuru and announced that he would sanction Rs 220 crores for the district's development.

The Chief Minister also said that Telangana was the only State in India supplying free drinking water to every household, providing free electricity to every sector, schemes like Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha, emerging as a role model for the country. He also said that farmers from the border regions of neighbouring States were requesting that their regions be merged into Telangana.

KCR said, "Telangana is progressing with godspeed. My dream is to bring progress in every State, unlike the Centre which is not bothered about development. What do you all say, should every State in our India develop at the same pace as Telangana?" to which the crowd showed him immense support.
