NIZAMABAD: Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi pushed India into a debt of Rs 100 lakh crore and that there was no development done in the past eight years, addressing a press conference in Nizamabad on Saturday.

“Some ignorant people from the BJP say that KCR indebted Telangana. However, Narendra Modi pushed India under Rs 100 lakh crore debt in seven-eight years. The debt that India was under, before Modi came into power in 2014 was just Rs 56 lakh crore – this is over the span of 65 years,” the Minister said.

He said that KCR did take loans. However, that was for projects like the Kaleshwaram and other schemes, which do not risk the future of the people but secure their future.

He also said that the Narendra Modi-led Centre gave less funds to the Telangana State. KTR said, “We wanted to build a mega textile park, a pharma park and a lot more. But the Centre did not fund us.”

He also said, “The people of Telangana are paying Rs 3.8 lakh crore as taxes and the Centre gave us just Rs 1.4 lakh crore as State fund. They say that they are building national highways. I would like to ask where all the toll money is going? They say they are building airports. But there are user development charges for that. A Telangana BJP head says that Modi is a godhead. All that the ‘godhead’ does is nod his head.”
