MP Ranjith Reddy resigns from BRS, may join Congress to contest from Chevella

HYDERABAD: Member of parliament from Chevella Dr G Ranjith Reddy quit the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Sunday. He has sent a resignation letter to the BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao explaining the reasons behind his decision.

While thanking the party president for allowing him to solve problems related to erstwhile Ranga Reddy and Vikarabad districts, the Chevella MP said that the confidence that the party bestowed on him made him the people effectively.

“Unfortunately due to the current political circumstances in Telangana, I have come to a difficult decision to pursue an alternative path. It is with a heavy heart that I submit my resignation and relinquish my membership,” he said.

Later, taking to X he informed his supporters about his decision to quit the BRS and sought their cooperation.

Ranjith Reddy’s move came after the BRS chief declared BC leader Kasani Gnaneswar Mudiraj for the Chevella seat. It was speculated that he would move to the Congress or the BJP after quitting the BRS.

Sources close to him said that Ranjith Reddy would join the grand old party in the presence of AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi and would be offered the Chevella seat.

So far four MPs quit the BRS and joined other parties. Nagarkurnool MP P Ramulu, Zaheerabad MP BB Patil joined the BJP, while Peddapally MP Venkatesh Netakanti joined the Congress.
