Much ado about nothing: Rahul Gandhi visits Lakshmi Barrage, mistakes span joint as crack
It was a simple engineering technique that even school children know that the gap between such huge concrete structures helps the superstructure survive expansion in hot summers. The same principle works even in flyovers, railway tracks, and other bridges
MEDIGADDA: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Lakshmi Barrage at Medgadda on Thursday along with TPCC president A Revanth Reddy.
Without wasting a minute, the Congress leader took to X and said that the cracks had developed in multiple pillars because of shoddy construction with reports indicating that the pillars were sinking.
Apparently, the Congress leaders mistook the span joint on the barrage that links the Maharashtra side of the project to the Telangana side. It was a simple engineering technique that even school children know that the gap between such huge concrete structures helps the superstructure survive expansion in hot summers. The same principle works even in flyovers, railway tracks, and other bridges.
What was more absurd was that the leaders took a picture showing us the gap as a breach with a note that reads: “Kaleshwaram Project = KCR Family ATM. I visited the Medigadda barrage, which is a part of the corruption-ridden Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme in Telangana. Cracks have developed in multiple pillars because of shoddy construction with reports indicating that the pillars are sinking. KCR and his family are using the Kaleshwaram Project as their personal ATM to plunder the people of Telangana.”
While his poll-time obsession with Kaleshwaram could be understood, social media was abuzz with trolls telling the Congress leader to grow up and differentiate a breach from an span joint.
