Muslims across Telangana celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, CM KCR extends Bakrid greetings

HYDERABAD: Eid-ul-Adha, also known as Bakrid, was observed with religious fervour and enthusiasm throughout Telangana on Thursday. The festival is celebrated on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah every year.

People dressed in festive clothes gathered at mosques and Eidgahs throughout Hyderabad to mark the occasion and take part in Eid prayers. The Eid prayers were led by Maulana Rizwan Qureshi, Khateeb-e-Mecca Masjid, at the Eidgah Mir Alam.

People also gathered at nearby mosques for the special prayers, which began at 6.30 am. Following the prayers in the mosques, Muslims hugged one another before exchanging ‘Eid Mubarak’ greetings.

Hyderabad city police took measures to ensure that no one was inconvenienced during the Eid prayers. Every step was monitored by CCTV cameras even as the patrolling was intensified for Bakrid.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand conducted a field inspection in Amberpet, Domalguda, Musarambagh, Malakpet and other parts of the city in the late hours of Wednesday to take stock of preparations.

KCR extends Bakrid wishes

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) conveyed Bakrid greetings to Muslims in the State on Thursday. He said that the Bakrid celebration instilled in individuals the wonderful virtues of devotion, sacrifice, compassion and faith.

He said that the Telangana Government treated all religious faiths and customs equally. He said that Telangana continued to carry on the spiritual tradition by preserving 'Ganga Jamuni Tahzeeb' so that people of all communities could coexist harmoniously.

The Chief Minister said that Telangana had adopted a secular-spiritual action plan that served as a model for the entire country. The State Government implemented several schemes aimed at the growth and welfare of Muslim minorities, he added.
