HYDERABAD: At a time Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Nara Chandrababu Nadu stunned his own party’s Telangana wing by asking them to support Congress, to save Kamma community votes from splitting, the Reddies of the Telangana Congress were irked at the surreptitious move of Naidu to rule Congress via Revanth.

The general mood in the Reddy community of the Congress in Telangana was one of dismay as the real intentions of the Naidu-Revanth duo came to the fore with the yellow party boss and his favourite disciple finally showing their true colours. They realised that the support extended to the Congress by Naidu was not in love with the Congress per se but only for Revanth Reddy who would soon give way to the party in the hands of Naidu.

The Reddies of Telangana who last their bastion to the TDP led by a Kamma rallied behind YS Rajasekhara Reddy and saw to it that he led Congress to victory not once but twice, decimating the Kamma TDP. The TDP later vanished from the face of Telangana by its own fallacies such as the cash-for-vote case.

There was apprehension in political circles that Revanth’s entry into the Congress and his phenomenal growth in the party was part of a major game played by Naidu. It was believed that Naidu would play his game in Telangana through Revanth’s Congress and he in tune with that plan was ready to throttle the Telangana TDP asking them to shift loyalty to Congress.

With the revelations of Kasani Gnaneswar on Monday afternoon, the Reddies of Telangana Congress were trying to fathom the political damage done by Naidu-Revanth combine with the community that lost its political fortune with the sad demise of YSR.
