Need to safeguard progressive Telangana from divisive forces: KTR
On the first day of Integration Day celebrations, KTR said Telangana was formed after many struggles
HYDERABAD: On the first day of Telangana Rashtra Samithi's (TRS) three-day Jatiya Samaikyatha Dinotsavam celebrations in Telangana on Friday, IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao said that Telangana was formed after a lot of struggles.
He said, "Telangana was formed after many people sacrificed their lives for it and there is a need to prevent attempts to divide the state in the name of caste or religion."
Speaking at a public meeting organised as a part of the Vajrotsavalu in Sircilla, KTR said that the state government was organising the celebrations for three days to commemorate the merger of Hyderabad state in India. He said that naming the Telangana Secretariat after the founder of the Constitution, Dr. BR Ambedkar, was a matter of pride. The TRS Working President said that, after the formation of Telangana, the state had emerged into a role model for welfare.
He also questioned why Union Minister Amit Shah, who was visiting Hyderabad frequently, neglected Telangana in the allocation of Central funds.
As part of the day-one celebrations, Minister for Welfare Koppula Eshwar participated in the National Integration Day festivities at Jagityal.
Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao, taking part in celebrations in Palakurthi, slammed the BJP for politicising the Integration Day. He said that the BJP had the least regard for the struggles of Telangana and was only getting involved with the State as Telangana was fast turning into a developing State.
The National Integration Day was also celebrated in Nirmal district, where Minister for Endowments Indrakiran Reddy, Minister for Power Jagdish Reddy participated in the events. In Armur, Ashanna Jeevan Reddy led the celebrations.
